Mr. Norman J Wiedersum

Norman J. Wiedersum; 88, of Vero Beach, FL passed away on September 9, 2009 at Palm Garden of Vero Beach, FL.
Mr. Wiedersum was born November 5, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY to Frederic and Gertrude Wiedersum and grew up in Valley Stream, NY. He attended Stony Brook Preparatory School where he later was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for football, wrestling and track. He received his Bachelor of Architecture at Syracuse University where he was captain of the wrestling team and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army Engineers and the 82nd Airborne Division.
Norman was a second generation partner of Wiedersum Associates Architects of Hauppauge, NY. He was also a former member of Manhasset Bay Yacht Club; Vero Beach Yacht Club and The Moorings Club. His passion was sailing from the age of 12, on Long Island Sound and continued throughout his life with many ocean races and cruises along the Eastern Seaboard.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lee Wiedersum; Sons Todd (Rita) of Smithtown, NY, Mark (Monti) of Nesconset, NY; and Daughter Dana Cassidy (Michael) of South Burlington, VT; Grandchildren, Jason, Eric, Katie, Alex, Evan, Chris, Taylor, Andrew and Molly; Great-grandson, Aiden. He was predeceased by his son, Brooks, and his brother, Frederic.
Norman was a member of Christ Church Vero Beach; FL. Service arrangements will be made at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral home and Crematory.
