Reilly, Norman J.
Feb. 12, 1919 -- May 8, 2008
Norman J. Reilly, Venice, Fl. and Biddeford Pool, Me. passed away in Venice
after a short illness.
Born in Biddeford, Me., he wintered in Venice since 1984. He was co-owner of
Reilly's Bakery in Biddeford for 50 years and served in the U.S. Navy from
1944 to 1946. He was an active member of St. Mary's Church in Biddeford and
Epiphany Cathedral in Venice.
He served on the Board of Directors of Pepperell Trust Bank and the Chamber
of Commerce in Biddeford. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of
Columbus, Elks Lodge, American Legion, and the Retail Bakers Assn. of Maine as
well as a member of Abenakee Golf Club for many years. He was active in
his community of Venice Isle and a volunteer at Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Retreat Center in Venice.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Hopsicker Reilly, his son Dr. James Reilly (Eileen) of
Andover, Ma., his daughter Mary Potter (David) of Kittery Point, Me., five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his brother Edward Reilly of Biddeford. His extended family also includes his stepchildren Daniel and David Hopsicker of Venice and Carol Quinlan (Robert) of Fairfield, Ct. and three step-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Betty (Mailhot), his parents Edward and
Melina Reilly and a sister, Lorraine Bruce.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Epiphany Cathedral on Friday,
May 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. and at St. Brendan's Chapel in Biddeford Pool on
July 5, 2008.
