Glidden, Olga N. passed away January 29, 2012 in San Diego, CA. Olga was born in 1925 in Chicago, Il daughter of Dr. Frank J. and Antoinette Novak, Jr. and sister of Dr. Frank J. Novak, III. Olga was married to W.J. (Jack) Glidden for 44 years before he passed away in 1991. They met at Grinnell College, Iowa and married in 1947, after Jack served in the US Navy during WWII. Olga received her B.A. in Economics from DePaul University in 1945. In 1952, they moved to New Jersey where they founded Pro-Chem Company, Inc. and, for 34 years they worked together, running this propane equipment distribution and fabrication business. They lived and raised their family in Plainfield, NJ.
After losing her beloved husband, Olga enjoyed her friends in Red Bank, NJ, volunteered with the Navesink Garden Club and traveled with friends on cruises to many locations around the world. In 2001, she moved with her daughter's family to Vancouver, BC where she volunteered at the West Vancouver Senior Centre and Mulgrave School, where two of her grandchildren were enroled. In 2011, she moved again with her daughter's family to San Diego, which she loved for the sunshine and memories of visiting her husband just before he shipped out of Coronado Naval Base to the Korean Conflict in 1950.
Olga is survived by her children, James J. (Chris) Glidden, Stephanie G. (Roman) Friedrich and grandchildren, Jenna Glidden and Caroline, John, Liza (Ian), Amanda and Alex (Marcela) Friedrich, as well as her nephew Frank Novak IV and niece MaryBeth Novak, and great grandchildren Hannah, Timothy and Liam.
On February 18, the family will gather to scatter the ashes of Olga and Jack Glidden at sea, off San Diego.
