Olive Mae Madsen Crowton, passed away gently in the loving arms of her family August 9, 2010. She was born in Manti, Utah on May 2, 1926 to Andrew Clinton and Elizabeth Fox Madsen. She married her high school sweetheart Douglas Burt Crowton, June 14, 1944, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She graduated from South High School and attended the University of Utah, School of Nursing prior to her marriage. She served faithfully in many leadership callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Olive retired from Mountain Bell. She and Doug moved from Salt Lake City to St. George, by way of Springville and American Fork. They opened the Dixie Doll Shop in St. George, where Olive became nationally recognized for her costume designs. Doug and Olive served a mission in the St. George LDS Church Employment Office. In 2005 they relocated to South Jordan. Olive's greatest joy and accomplishment was her close and loving family. She and Doug have 4 daughters: Peggy Johnson, (Bob, deceased), Pat Nichols, (Cary), Pam Taylor, (Bry) and Penny Stone (Brad). She is a loving grandmother to 19 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren, with 4 more special spirits expected soon. Olive is survived by her husband Doug, her daughters and their families, 3 brothers, 5 sisters and many dear friends. Her parents, older infant brother, younger sister, and son-in-law preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the LDS River 2nd ward, 1249 W 10775 S, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010 at the church, and also one hour prior to services. Condolences may be sent at www.memorialutah.com.
