Oma Sue Ballard Cowan, 70, of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011. She was born May 21, 1940 in Sweetwater, Texas to A. D. and Oma Louise (Banner) Bishop. She moved to Lubbock in the 1960’s and worked as a secretary for Western Title, Lubbock Abstract, and West Texas Title before retiring. She was a member of the South Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, Kent Ballard and wife Debbie of Lubbock; a daughter, Pam Cumby and husband David of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Clark Cumby and Whitney and Kaden Ballard; her father, A. D. Bishop of Lubbock; and two sisters, Sandra Holt of Lubbock and Vearl Dean Biggerstaff of Brownfield.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Kello officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Loop Cemetery in Loop, Texas under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
