Mom was born August 22, 1926 in Mona, Utah to Malcolm Christian Hansen and Clara Opal Seamons Hansen. She was the oldest of five children. She died January 31, 2010 in Provo, Utah of complications of old age and diabetes. She went by her middle name, Fern.

She married Dee L. Peterson March 16, 1946, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Heber, Utah; Crawford, Colorado; Leadville, Colorado; Pueblo, Colorado; and Pocatello, Idaho. The last few years of her life she lived with her son, Dell, in Spanish Fork, Utah. She loved gardening, sewing, quilting, and visiting family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and by her brother, Carl. She is survived by children, David (Virginia), Phoenix, AZ; Donn, Declo, ID: Deanne (Roy), Obrigewitch, Agate, CO; Lexie (Ken) Forster, Provo, UT; Dell (Ladeena), Spanish Fork, UT; Malcolm Dick (Rosemarie), Pocatello, ID, and Dennis (Judy), Hyde Park, UT; two sisters and one brother, LaVerl Allred, Carol Dien Martin, and Leland Hansen. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spanish Fork East Stake Center, 850 E. Canyon Rd., Spanish Fork, Utah. The viewing will be held on Thursday evening, February 4, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork or on Friday morning at the church from 8:45-9:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Mona, Utah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Peterson family to help with expenses.
