Oren Duane Blevins of Cadillac passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Lakeview Lutheran Manor. He was 79 years old. Mr. Blevins was born on April 8, 1926 in Lansing, Michigan to Melvin and Carrie (Vallad) Blevins. He was a graduate of Marion High School and joined the United States Navy in 1944, serving on the LST 915 in the South Pacific. He married Audrey Davison on June 26, 1948 and they resided in Lansing until he earned his degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. He was employed by Dow Chemical in Midland as a Cost Accountant until purchasing a half interest in the Omer F. Hall Insurance Agency in Marion, which he later owned. Mr. Blevins' Agency was a fixture on the corner of Main and Mill Streets for nearly a quarter century. In 1980 he merged his agency with Jack Eastway, making it the Eastway Blevins Agency, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Blevins was a member of the Marion United Methodist Church, which he served as treasurer for over 20 years. He was also active in the Marion Kiwanis Club and the subsequent Men's Community Club, the Marion VFW and a lifetime member of the Marion Historical Society. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and interacting with his eight grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; children, Bruce (Pam) Blevins of Lake City, Daniel (Susan) of Norcross, GA, Barbara Ingold of Midland, and James (Sandy) Blevins of Marion; and brother Dennis (Janet) Blevins of Midland. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Bette Craglow; and brothers, Gilbert and Kenneth Blevins. Services for Mr. Blevins will be held on Friday, December 30, 2005 at 11:00am at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Reeves officiating. Burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 29, 2005 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer's Association, or to the charity of one's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
