Orgene Larson was born in Appleton, Minn. on May 2, 1948 to Orvin and Josephine (Brustuen) Larson. He graduated from Appleton High School and Moorhead State College. Following college he entered the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1972.



 



Gene completed his degree in Mortuary Science at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He was a high school librarian in Dawson and History teacher, football and wrestling coach in Custer, S.D. He was a mortician in Ft. Dodge and Sioux City, Iowa; Coolidge, Ariz. and Appleton and Wheaton. He married Gaye Olmsted in Coolidge in 1987. Following retirement they moved to Morris.



 



Gene is survived by wife Gaye; four step children, Danny, Maria, Christopher and Gina of Sioux City, Iowa. Numerous step grandchildren; brothers, Kermit of Appleton, Loren (Darlene) of New Hope. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Dayton.


Gene loved to read and he was a history and Civil War buff. He was so loved by his wife, step children, brothers and all who knew him.



 



Gene passed away on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris.





Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangments.
