Mr. Owen G. Lee, Jr., 87, died Sunday night (May 15, 2011) at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, FL after an extended illness. He was a native of Brantley County, but he has lived most of his life in Waycross. He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Destroyer Stockholm in the Pacific Theater. In 1961, he became employed with Clark Eye Clinic as an optician until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 55 years where he once served as head usher. He was also a member of the Waycross Exchange Club. Mr. Lee is the son of the late Owen G. Lee, Sr. and Thelma Griffin Lee; and stepmother, Emma Nelson Lee. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Edmee L. Lee; one daughter, Eugenia Aline Lee; and one brother, Carlton Lee. Survivors include one son, Owen G. Lee III of Waycross; two grandchildren, Rebecca Lee of Valdosta, and Jeremy Lee of McCrae; one great grandchild, Colby Ashton Lee; three sisters, Josephine Cason (husband Alton) of Brantley County, Aline Crawford of Jesup, and Shirley Driggers of Brantley County; one brother, Alex Lee (wife Trudie) of Brantley County; one sister-in-law, Ava Lee of Brantley County; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday (May 18, 2011) at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
