Army Emblem

Owen Gerald (Jerry) Stout, Sr., 64 of Medina passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Hospice of Medina at The Inn. He was born June 8, 1946 in Sheffield, Alabama, the son of Mary Elizabeth (nee Robinson) Tucker and the late Owen Clifford Stout. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Cassandra (nee Krause) Stout, son Owen Gerald (Patricia) Stout Jr., and daughter Anna Elizabeth Stout. Also surviving are three grandchildren Owen Connor Stout, Meredith Stout, and Madison Burns. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by his brothers Jim (Charlotte), Don (Karen), and Tom (Mellissa) Black, Brian Tucker, and sister Elizabeth (Dennis) O’Donnell. Jerry was the President and Owner of TKO Fire Protection in Medina. He had previously worked for Figgie International, serving as President of three of their Corporate Divisions: Logan Company in Louisville, Kentucky, Snorkel Economy in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Automatic Sprinkler Corporation of America, based in Broadview Heights. He had risen through the ranks at Automatic Sprinkler from a pipe fitter to President overseeing approximately 2,000 employees in 38 states and three countries. His was a great success story but he never boasted of his accomplishments. Jerry was ambitious, hard working, honest, generous, dependable, and was often referred to as one of the good guys. He was a great problem solver, loved a challenge, and woke up every morning ready and eager to tackle any situation or project that came his way. He was an avid vintage car lover and collector, enjoyed remodeling houses, golf, and spending time with family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the STEP Foundation, 2421 Community College Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115, a group that aids families of disabled children. Through organizing golf outings and his personal donations Jerry helped to raise funds to purchase wheelchairs and other medical equipment for these families who would otherwise have been unable to afford them. Friends may join the family for memorial visitation on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 12:30 to 1:30 with Celebration of Life Services at 1:30 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road (Corner of Route 18 & River Styx Road), Medina. Inurnment will follow in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
