Kanakaris, Patricia, December 29, 2010. Age 89. Died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Fotis and Pelagia Paterson on December 18, 1921. Beloved wife of the late Michael. Dearest mother of Anita, Patricia (Dr. Tom) Barriger, and Gail Jarvis. Cherished yiayia of Alex, Marc, and Michael. Dear sister of Steve Paterson. Patricia worked as an executive secretary at Michigan Employment Security Commission for many years, retiring in 1982, She volunteered with Macomb Literacy Partners for several years and traveled extensively. Patricia enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and gardening, and shared those interests with her daughters. She will be remembered for her kind, loving and generous nature, her deep love for her family and her immense pride in her Greek heritage. Visitation Sunday 2-8 and Monday 1-8 with Prayers at 7 pm A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Road Grosse Pointe Woods. Instate Tuesday 9:30 till time of Funeral 10:00 am Assumption Greek Orthodox Church 21800 Marter Road, St. Clair Shores. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church or to the Michigan Humane Society.
