Meriden- Paul D. Mauri, 86, husband of the late Vernal (Hass) Mauri passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at MidState Medical Center. He was born October 17, 1925 in Meriden a son of the late Alfonso and Rose (Tamburine) Mauri. Paul proudly served his country in the U.S.Navy during WWII and then worked for the U.S. Postal service retiring after 32years of service. He was a member of St.John Lutheran Church and the North Italian Club. He loved all sports , especially the Yankees, Giants and UCONN Basketball, but his all time favorite was golf of which he played for his entire life. The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Kim and Dr. Joseph Tominelli for their many years of care and compassion. A thank-you also to Paul's many golfing friends, for their years of camaraderie. Paul is survived by two daughters, Suzan Mauri Toomey and her husband Michael and Donna and Robert Dlugos both of Meriden, two grandchildren, Nancy Ferranto of New Jersey and Michael Dlugos of Middletown, two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Jackson Ferranto, a speical niece, Carol Mauri, who was always there to help, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Kevin P. Mauri, four brothers, Alfred, William, Charles and Louis Mauri and two sisters, Louise Fontanella and Rose Schuelke. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11am at St.John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Meriden. Relatives and friends may call at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the General Fund or the the Rabe Fund at St.John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
