Pastor Paul David Pugh, 73, of Cherrywood Lane, Bluefield, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 14, 2008, Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke Virginia. Born March 7, 1935, in Dickson City, Pa., he was the son of the late Stanley Pugh and Sarah Ann Price Pugh. Pastor Paul was a graduate of Clark Summit High School, in Clark Summit, Pa. Pastor feeling the call to preach at the age of 13, Pastor Paul began evangelistic ministry after leaving Eastern Bible Institute. His years of evangelistic work ranged from tent ministry to traveling with singer, songwriter, Conrad Cook and the Calvaryman Quartet. He was blessed in later years to share in this ministry with his own family. Pastor Paul has been an avid supporter of missions, having traveled to India numerous times to share the gospel. As the founder of Calvary Messenger Ministries Worship Center in 1987, he has faithfully served as Senior Pastor for 21 years. Pastor Paul was a member of the Association of Fundamental Ministers and Churches and served as State Director for this organization. He was loved and respected by those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed; however, his legacy of 60 years in ministry will live on through the multiplicity of those he served and mentored. In addition to his parents, four siblings preceded, Stan Pugh, Joe Pugh, Grace White and Cynthia Pugh. Cherishing his memory, his loving wife and partner, Carolyn Sue Gibson Pugh, married for 41 years, His devoted daughter and son in law Shanda Pugh Copolo and Reverend Joe Copolo of Roanoke VA Three Grandchildren Lauren Shea, Evan Matthew and Jensen Lyn Brother James Pugh & wife Fannie of Reading Pa Sister Valeda Cartwright of Bluefield VA A home going celebration will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Bill Reed officiating. Burial will follow Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family today (Monday) from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Beloved friends & family will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Association of Fundamental Ministers and Churches, and Appalachian Teen Challenge Students. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Calvary Messenger Ministries Worship Center, P.O. Box 231, Bluefield, VA 24701.
