Paul H. Coverdell, Jr., age 40, of Mascoutah, died at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 23, 1971 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Clara (Woodcock) Stanfill, who survives in Fenton, MO, and the late Paul H. Coverdell, Sr. He married Jennifer Jarvis May 25, 1991 in Horine, MO. She survives. Also surviving are 4 children: Mackenzie, Emma, Keira and Kylie, all of Mascoutah; eight brothers: Alan, Paulie, Chris, John, Wade, and Marvin Coverdell, all of Edgar Springs, MO, Jerry Stanfill of Festus, MO and Leroy Coverdell of Florissant, MO; two sisters: Debbie Stanfill of Crystal City, MO and Tina Horner of Edgar Springs, MO; one brother-in-law, Josh (Gina) Jarvis of St. Charles, MO; his mother-in-law and her husband, Joan and Alex Moncada of Imperial, MO; and his father-in-law, Jeff Jarvis of Lebanon, MO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Coverdell was employed in a civilian capacity at Scott Air Force Base, working for Cambridge International Inc as a Computer Systems Engineer. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was an avid runner and cyclist, winning and placing in many events through the years. As recently as a year ago he won the Mascoutah Meltdown in his age division. He and his wife were members of the Road Warriors. Paul was well-traveled, residing in Kosovo, Germany, Belgium, and Alabama, before moving back to the St. Louis area. In his memory, the "Coverdell Dash" will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 3 at Scheve Park in Mascoutah. Visit www.coverdelldash.com for more details.
