Mr. Paul J. "P.J." Camello, a longtime resident of Saugus, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Peabody with his family at his side. He was 86 years of age.

Paul was born on January 9, 1925 in Chelsea, the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Christoforo) Camello. Raised and educated in Everett, he graduated from Salem State College and received his Master's degree in education from Boston University. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps during WWII from 1943 until his honorable discharge as Corporal in 1946. Paul, affectionately known by many as "P.J." returned home to meet his future loving wife of 62 years, Michelle M. Trigilio. They married on September 4, 1949 and settled in Saugus to raise their family of two sons and a daughter. A devout Catholic, he was a longtime and faithful parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Saugus.

He was an accomplished high school and college baseball pitcher and continued his love of sports as a Saugus Little League Coach for several years. Blessed artistically, he loved to draw and created the Salem State College Clipper which was used as their logo for many years. During his spare time, P.J. enjoyed reading, and watching movies about World War II.

Paul dedicated his 38-year working career to the Everett school system. He worked as a seventh and eighth grade teacher for 19 years and then served as Principal for Everett Junior High Schools for another 19 years. He retired at the age of 64, and would become a caring grandfather to his three grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered as a man who was forever loyal to his wife, children and grandchildren.

P.J. was the beloved ... READ MORE →
