JANESVILLE--- Paul J. Schaitel, age 59, of Afton, passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at his home. He was born in Janesville on May 13, 1950, the son of Paul V. and Magdalen "Madge" (Frederick) Schaitel and was a 1969 graduate of Janesville Parker High School. Paul had been employed at Cedar Crest in Janesville and retired in 2008 from Hormel in Beloit after 30 years. He loved the outdoors, his family, friends, neighbors, and especially his dog, Reba. His many nieces and nephews played a special role in his life. Paul had a playful nature and was very kind-hearted which they loved. He especially enjoyed picking asparagus and morel hunting. He is survived by his mother, Madge, a resident of St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville; 4 sisters: Jann (John) Roethe and Linda (Duane) Heim both of Edgerton, Sandra (Glen) Bouton of Janesville, and Carole (Alan) Falk of Ft. Wayne, IN; a brother, Tom Schaitel of Janesville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul V. Schaitel; 2 sisters, Karen Schaitel and Nancy Burdick; and a niece, Angela Lamantia. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME with Fr. Jim Kuhn officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. "To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die" – Thomas Campbell
