Paula June Bennear, 78, formerly of East 43rd Street died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Inn-Conneaut.
She was born June 6, 1929 in Meadville, PA, the daughter of Paul E. Breese and Mary Star and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1953.
She was a 1947 graduate of Linesville High School. Prior to her retirement in 1975, she worked 25 years as a teacher at the Youngstown School of Cosmetology and Isabel’s Beauty Academy, as well as being the owner and operator of Princess Paula’s Beauty Salon in Ashtabula.
Mrs. Bennear was a member of the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC), the Ashtabula Association of Retired Citizens, the American Red Cross, and the American Heart Association. She also served as a girl scout leader, a Hospice volunteer, as a member of the Ashtabula Co. Board of Mental Retardation and the Mental Health Board, and worked with Happy Hearts, Ash Craft, and other residential facilities.
Her survivors include three children, Garth Kelly Wilson of Pittsburgh, PA, Mari-jo Harmony Wilson of Conneaut, and Michele (Sam) Esposito of Concord, NC; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Wilson, Jared (Sherry) Swiger, Corey (Allyson) Swiger, and Casandra Swiger; three great-grandchildren, Malakai, Noah, and Logan; one sister, MaryLyn Tucker of Ashtabula; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David G. Bennear on April 4, 2003; one brother, Neil Star; and her father and mother, Mary Star-Rhoades.
A brief service will be held 7 PM Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Fr. Philip Miller will preside. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 18 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
