Mrs. Peggy A. Eggleston, 81, of La Porte, Indiana, entered into enternal life Monday October 4, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 17, 1929 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Omer D. Keller and Alpha V. (Johnson) Keller. Peggy was a homemaker and had worked at the La Porte County Library and as a bookkeeper and receptionist for Matz Hair Salon. She was a member of Salem Chapel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Wesley Fellowship, fair project chairperson for Salem Chapel, Building Blocks Preschool Board, Kitchen Kin Homemakers Club, Bunco Club and a former Girl Scout leader (Walkerton). She graduated from South Bend Business College in 1945. Peggy enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, quilting, dancing, spending time with her family and enjoyed life. A special thanks to Gayle Laughlin R.N. and Shari Holzman MSW and the whole La Porte VNA Hospice staff for all they have done. On June 9, 1946, in La Porte, IN, she married Eugene J. Eggleston who survives. She is also survived by her 2 daughters - Rev. Susan Eggleston of La Porte, Patricia (Pat Whitney) Larson of La Porte; 2 sons - Dennis (Linda) Eggleston of La Porte, Michael J. Eggleston of Schererville; 6 grandchildren - Sandra (David) Arndt of La Porte, Kenneth (Andrea) Eggleston of Walkerton, Lindsey (Arne) Gabrielsen of Montgomery, IL, Christine Eggleston of Schererville, Max Larson of La Porte, Maggie Larson of La Porte; 6 great grandchildren - Toriana Arndt of La Porte, Joshua Arndt of La Porte, Morgan Eggleston of Walkerton, Ryan Eggleston of Walkerton, Alexis Eggleston of Schererville, and Kayla Gabrielsen of Montgomery, IL. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandchildren, Chad Eggleston, Melissa Eggleston, and daughter-in-law, Judy Eggleston. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. & Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Services will be held at Salem Chapel United Methodist Church, Thursday October 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert Raschka and Rev. Gene Flickinger officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of La Porte.
