Peggy Abercrombie
Greenville, SC

Margaret "Peggy" Poynter Abercrombie, 89, passed away Saturday morning December 3, 2011.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Henrietta Engleman Poynter.

Reared in Greenville, she was a graduate of Greenville High School. Peggy was a person of great faith and a lover of hiking. She was a member of the Greenville Historical Society and the Friends of the Library. She was a resident at The Woodlands at Furman Senior Living Community.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Wesley Abercrombie and her sister, Catherine Rowe Thomas. She is survived by her loving family, daughter, Linda Abercrombie Smoak and her husband, John Fletcher Smoak of Roanoke, VA, her grandchildren, John Fletcher Smoak III and his wife, Tami of Roanoke, VA, and James Ashley Smoak and his wife, Allyson of Shreveport, LA; and her great grandchildren, James Ashley Smoak, Jr., Charles Fletcher Smoak, Katherine and Elizabeth Smoak.

Mrs. Abercrombie is at The Mackey Mortuary where the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 4 to 6pm. Graveside services will be private.
