Peggy Crane of Spiro, Oklahoma was born August 15, 1925 in the Tucker Bottoms to Boo and Nanny (Broom) Perdue. She passed away on April 24, 2009 in a Ft. Smith hospital after complications from heart surgery at the age of 83.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Ginger Fisher of the home and a host of family and friends.

She was a 1944 Spiro High School graduate and a 1948 graduate of Northeastern State Teacher's College with a degree in home economics. She immediately went to work for Muskogee County as a home demonstration agent and the 4-H sponsor. She married Walter Crane in 1950. In 1953 she gave birth to their only child, Beverly "Ginger". They then moved to her family's farm in Tucker, OK and later built a home at Twilight. Peggy, Walter and her parents operated the farm until 1972. They then moved to Crane's Roost on Gingle Mountain in Cowlington, Oklahoma. This home place was special to Peggy because it overlooked the lake. This change in life enabled Peggy to start her volunteerism. She was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In the year 1983, Peggy's husband, Walter passed away and Peggy became even more active in the Spiro community. She served in the Spiro Alumni Association, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #4884, the local American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Spiro Museum, the Spiro Historical Association and the Spiro Chamber of Commerce who awarded her the lifetime achievement award in 1996. The Spiro Alumni Association dedicated their 2008 banquet to Peggy.

Peggy gave of her time, money and talents very freely. She loved to decorate the Overstreet home for the holidays, cook, organize and entertain for all her friends, family and organizations. She made sure that all the folks at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home had their birthdays celebrated with their favorite meal and dessert.
