Age 87, Pete DelValle passed away after a brief illness on November 15, 2011. Pete was born to Juan DelValle and Higinia Ortiz DelValle in 1924 on the family ranch in Pasamonte, NM. Pete joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 where he served in Hawaii during WWII. In 1950, Pete married his lovely bride, Clara Montano. Together they had five children. Pete worked as a crash firefighter at Kirtland Air Force Base. He was very patriotic and served his community as an active member of the American Legion Post 99, also serving there as Post Commander. After retirement, Pete enjoyed traveling with his wife and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Education was extremely important to Pete. He was very proud that all four of his grandchildren were college graduates of UNM. Pete was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony James; adult sons, Pete Jr. and John; his parents, Juan and Higinia DelValle; 3 brothers, Romolo, Juan and Julian, and a sister Natividad Ulibarri. Pete is survived by Clara, his wife of 61 years; daughters, Inez Sisneros and husband Fransisco, Janet Wiggins and husband David; grandsons, Sterling Wiggins, Jasper Wiggins and wife, Lauren; granddaughters, Andrea Wichman and husband Stuart, Rebeca Sisneros and Josh Espinosa; and his great-grandchildren, Esteban, Anja and Ella. Pete is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and very dear friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Francisco Sisneros, David Wiggins, Sterling Wiggins, Jasper Wiggins, Rebeca Sisneros and Andrea Wichman. Honorary pallbearer will be Maurilio Ruiz. A rosary will be held at Queen of Heaven, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE, on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. and a mass of resurrection will follow immediately at 10:00 a.m.. Father Young will officiate. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
