Mr. Pete Jenkins, age 83, of Harrisburg, departed this life Monday night, December 21, 2009, at the Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg.
He was born July 9, 1926 in Guy, Arkansas, the son of Albert and Ina Quattlebaum Jenkins. He was a farmer and a member of the New Vision Church of God in Harrisburg. He married Faye Qualls on March 10, 1951 and they enjoyed 58 years together. His hobbies included yardwork and gardening and his greatest pleasure was his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Buster Jenkins, and five sisters, Vera Barker, Allie Mae Gann, Betty Jones, Jessie Lawrence and Erma McGuinty.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye Jenkins of the home, one son, Freddy Jenkins and his wife Donna of Tyronza, Arkansas, one daughter, Brenda Jenkins of Harrisburg, Arkansas, one brother, Albert “Bud” Jenkins of Wynne, Arkansas, three sisters, Gail Hall of Harrisburg, Arkansas, Bonnie Gibbs of Trumann, Arkansas, and Dean Cossey of South Bend, Indiana, two grandchildren, Scotty Jenkins and his wife Jessica of Tyronza, and Crystal Daniels and her husband BoBo of Tyronza, Arkansas and six great grandchildren, Dustin Jenkins, Bobby Jenkins, Bailey Jenkins, Emma Jenkins, Jason Daniels, Jr. and Houston Daniels.
Funeral services are set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2009, at the New Vision Church of God in Harrisburg with Rev. Greg Hoskins officiating.
Interment will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday evening, 5:00 till 8:00 p.m.
