Long time Gresham resident Peter Samodurov passed away October 27, 2011. Peter was born August 27,1941 in Astrabad, Iran and immigrated with his family to the United States, eventually settling in Independence, Oregon. This is where he met the love of his life Joann, whom he married in 1962. The married couple settled in Gresham where they raised their two children Brenda Samodurov, of Portland , Or. and Jason Samodurov of Boring, Or.. Pete had an entrepreneurial spirit that led to a variety of different business ventures. These included running his own garbage business, meat and snack distibutorship, and running his own electrical contracting company. Through most of these ventures he also worked full-time swing shift as a maintance electrician and foreman, first at Wagner Mining and then at Oregon Steel Mill from which he retired. When he had spare time, Pete enjoyed spending time with his family, going to breakfast with his son and daughter-inlaw Nicole at my Fathers Place, and going for extended drives. Pete was a lover of history, technology, and science with a true thirst for learning, he was always willing to share his knowledge with anyone who was interested. Pete was a devoted family man, a philanthropist at heart and always willing to lend a hand to friends and family(or even complete strangers) whenever the need was there. There are so many things to be said about Pete that we could write volumes. He was an amazing man and will be immensley missed by all who knew him. If you have any thoughts or stories you would like to share we would love to read how Pete touched your life. WE LOVE YOU PETE!!!!!!
