Peter W. Matthews, 77, of Hightstown passed away Tuesday at RWJ University Hospital in Hamilton Township.

Peter was born in New York, NY and was a long time Hightstown area resident. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Hightstown, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council, the VFW and life member of Post 2319 and a member of the Teamster Union, Local 701.

Peter is survived by his five children, Wanda (David) Ball of Little Egg Harbor, Theresa DiMatteo of Sparta, Patrina (Bill) Riley of Virginia, Michael (Elena) Matthews of Forked River and Daniel Rigney of Virginia; three step-children, Laura Freeman and Tammy Everett, both of Virginia and Tony Rigney of Ohio and fifteen grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 on Monday at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 251 Franklin Street, Hightstown.

Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery in North Brunswick.

Family and friends may call Sunday from 7:00 until 9:00pm at the church.
