QMCS Addison A. Wyman, USCG (Ret.), 88, of Wildwood Road, Chesapeake, VA, died January 3, 2011, at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth. He was born in Warren, RI and was the son of the late Chester and Sophie Wyman. Addison was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen M. Wyman; and four sisters, Amelia Williams, Sarah Pias, Flora Wyman and Gertrude Mazzatenta. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Edward, Chester William, Herman Francis and Charles Wyman. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard following 26 years of service having served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also was a retired Police Sergeant for the Elizabeth River Tunnel Commission (State of Virginia) and was active in the Boy Scouts of America. Addison is survived by five children, Mildred Jean Silverthorn, Walter W. Wyman and wife Linda and Chester Leander Wyman and wife Marie, all of Chesapeake, VA, Kathleen A. Morris and husband Will of Parrish, FL and Edward Albert Wyman and wife Nancy of Lauderhill, FL; a sister, Barbara Davis and husband Dave of Bellaire, TX; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel by the Rev. Larry Ryals. Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
