Randy E. Sulkin, 59, died at 5:55 a.m. March 11, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1953, in Lima to Joseph R. Sulkin and Lauretta M. "Torchie" Ketchum Wooddell. His father preceded him in death. His mother and her friend, Jack Pisel, survive in Lima. On July 8, 1983, he married Barbara L. Lewis, who survives in Lima. Mr. Sulkin was a master mechanic. He had worked at Tom Ahl's for more than 10 years and had to quit due to his illness in 1993. He had also been a bartender at Lombardo's. He attended Lima Senior High School. He was a Marine Corps veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. Survivors also include a son, Adam L. (Wendy) Dodge, of Rossville, Ga.; a daughter, Julia A. (Aaron) Clementz, of Lima; five grandchildren, Christopher, Erinn, Earl, Kelton and William Dodge, and Riley Clementz; four siblings, Gerald (Linda) Sulkin, of Salem, Ore., Sharon (Chuck) Gorby, of Columbus, Danny (Eva Flores) Sulkin, of Lima, and Cathy "Kate" (Roger) Heidenescher, of Columbus; and 10 brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gary Lewis and Sharon McCormick, both of Lima, Sandy (Butch) Rosenfeld, of New York City, Bill (Marie) Lewis, of Chino Valley, Ariz., Deb (Greg) Todd, of Mansfield, and Cindy (Paul) Layman, Pam Davis, Kathy Simpson, Tina (Ed Butler) Lewis and Mary (Erika Clemens) Lewis, all of Lima; and several nieces and nephews and lots of friends. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Whitey Wooddell; his father- and mother-in-law, Carl and Val Lewis; and a brother-in-law, Steven Lewis. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772. Pastor Tim Benjamin will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthur James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University, Columbus, or St. Rita's Hospice. Condolences may be expressed at chiles-lamanfh.com. The family would like to thank Dr. David Schuller of the Arthur James Cancer Hospital for giving him an additional 20 years to be with his family. They would also like to thank the staff at St. Rita's Medical Center who work in 5K and the staff of St. Rita's Hospice.
