Mr. Ramon "Ray" Alvarado, age 83 of McDonough, Georgia passed away December 6, 2011. Ray was born in Baytown, Texas to the late Apolonia and Gregoria Yepez Alvarado. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Jo Alvarado and by siblings, Lucy Zamora and Pete Alvarado. He served his country in the United States Army and graduated from Beulah Heights Bible College. He was a Missionary for the Congregational Holiness Church in Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico for 20 years, where he assisted in the building of 157 churches. Ray was a member of His Freedom Reigns Church of McDonough. Survivors include his sons, Francisco Alvarado of North Georgia and Jimmy Alvarado of Honduras; grandchildren, Ansley, Jake and Maddie; siblings, Frances Flores of Texas, Rita LaDavia of Florida, Mike Alvarado of Marietta, Georgia, Joe Alvarado of Texas and Paul Alvarado of Florida. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Barbara Cannon will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
