Glasscock, Ray , 86 passed away January 30, 2012. He was born in Kentucky on May 6, 1925. He served in the U.S. Navy druing WWII. After serving in the military he began his career in the grocery store industry. In 1949 he met his wife Elsie and a few years after, became a manager for Kroger Groceries. He worked with Kroger for 25 years. During that time he and Elsie had two daughters, Madona and Elizabeth. After retiring from Kroger he and his family purchased a Convenient Food Mart in Clearwater, Florida. They owned and operated "the store" for 10 years. Just before "the store" was sold they had their first and only grandchild Tabatha.
Ray was a devote member of the Masonic Lodge in Kentucky and in Florida as well. He was a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner. Along with this charitable work he donated to the World Wildlife Fund. He loved watching his backyard birds. He walked on a treadmill at the YMCA daily and he loved playing golf.
Ray and Elsie enjoyed their retirement traveling to Hawaii and the Bahamas. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary September 24.
He is survived by wife Elsie, daughter Madona, daughter Elizabeth and husband Angel, granddaughter Tabatha and husband Joe, a brother Charles and his wife, Sister-in-law Helen, nieces Carol, Charlene and husband James, great nephew Gary and wife Pam, great nieces Gretchen and her husband, Madonna, great niece Lauren, and great nephews Shane, Ian, and Nathan.
Service will be Friday Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. with family receiving friends one hour prior to service at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, Clearwater, 796-1992.
