Winter Haven Florida- Raymond "Mike" Farnsworth., 84, a former resident of Brattleboro, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011 in Winter Haven due to heart failure. Mike was born in Montpelier, Vermont on September 16, 1926, the son of Rollie and Sarah (Halsall) Farnsworth. He attended Spaulding High School in Barre and later graduated from Brattleboro High School, Class of 1949. Mike worked at the former American Optical in Brattleboro for 11 years and was manager of the former American Stratford for 33 years retiring in May of 1992 following 33 faithful and dedicated years with the company. Steadfast in his walk of faith he was a member of the First Christian Church in Winter Haven. Mike was a kind, generous and loving husband and a friend to everyone he met. Of his leisure time activities he enjoyed photography and golf. On January 24, 1948 he was married to Lessie King who predeceased him in 1992. On September 19, 1992 at Guilford Community Church he was married to Marion Whitaker who survives. Besides his loving wife of 18 years he leaves his beloved dog, Sweet Pea, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Guilford Community Church with Pastor Susanna Griefen, of Dummerston Congregational Church officiating. Burial will follow in West Brattleboro Cemetery on Mather Road. Flowers are accepted or donations in Mike's name may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, Florida 33823.
