On Dec. 2, 2011, Rebecca Ann Richins McLatchy, cherished wife of Michael J. McLatchy, returned home above while at MVHospital in Payson, UT while surrounded by family. The family wishes to express our gratitude to the caring staff at MVH for their grace and service while attending Rebecca and her family.
Rebecca was born Feb. I0, 1942 in American Fork to Lowell O. and Lucille B. Richins. She grew up in Independence, MO and SLC, UT. She served an LDS mission to Brazil in 1963-64. She married Michael June 16, 1966 in the SLC LDS temple.
Rebecca loved flowers and music but she cherished her family and her faith. She raised 5 children and served in many callings in church: Relief Society and Primary Presidents, Family History Library Director, and Choir Director, among countless others. She was a faithful Visiting Teacher and was often a trusted friend and source of wisdom for others.
She also loved wit and good humor. She taught us to be happy and cheerful but she also shared our sorrows. Two of her favorite quotes were: "This too shall pass" and "The Lord is still in charge."
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Michael: her children, Sarah J. (Richard) Miller, M. Andrew (Elizabeth) McLatchy, John A. McLatchy, Joseph A. (Kristian) McLatchy, Rachel A. (Matthew) Arndt: her siblings, L. Phillip (Linda) Richins, Thomas K. (Jan) Richins, Cynthia (Paul) France: and her 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Spring Creek Ward Chapel, 1080 S 930 W, Payson,UT at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec 10, 2011, with viewing to be held the previous evening at Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, and 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. prior to funeral at the above chapel.
In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice during this Christmas season.
