Rebecca Elaine, (Markos) Hutchison of Quartz Hill, California passed away July 29, 2011 at City of Hope in Duarte due to Cancer. Rebecca was born June 28, 1949 in Ogden, Utah to Herman and Argie Markos. She grew up in Ogden graduation from Ogden High School, Weber State College and Utah State University with a degree in Home Economics Education. Rebecca was a lifelong educator and taught young people of all ages from preschool through college level. She was Teacher and Director of the Palmdale Parent Participating Preschool and most recently a Kindergarten First Grade teacher at Mesquite Elementary School in Palmdale. She retired in 2008, through continued to tutor at-risk students up until May. She volunteered for many organizations and activities in the valley. She was a board member of Alpha Charter Guild, active with American Cancer Society, and Rebecca was also active in the Greek Orthodox Church. She is survived by her husband of 39 years Thomas, daughter and son-in-law Kristine and Jose Perez, daughter Andrea Hutchison and son Michael Hutchison as well as her sisters Harriette Roadman of Murrysville, Pennsylvania, Alexis Davis of Layton, Utah and Brother Andrew Markos of Gig Harbor, Washington and their families. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lancaster American Cancer Society office in her name. Viewing will be Wednesday 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Halley Olsen in Lancaster with the funeral on Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
