Funeral services for Reube Faye Cross, 86, of Caldwell are set for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Caldwell, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2011 in the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Crossed passed away August 6, 2011 in Bryan, Texas. Reube was born May 2, 1925 to James Sanford Teague and Jennie Mae (Farmer) Teague in Caldwell, Texas. She married Mervin (Bud) Cross on January 24, 1948 in Caldwell, Texas. Reube faithfully worked at Bud Cross Ford for over 60 years, playing an active role in day to day operations. She even ensured the monthly statements were finished last week before she was called home. Reube was an inspirational Christian and was a member at the First Baptist Church of Caldwell. She served as a GA leader, Sunday school teacher, and a member of Ruth's Sunday school class. She read her Bible each night and encouraged prayer everyday. Reube was a supportive wife, supporting Bud so that he could finish college. She was by his side holding his hand through 56 years of marriage. Reube enjoyed taeking trips with the keenagers and was an avid bridge player. However, her favorite past time was spending time with her family. Reube was a model matriarch playing an active role in raising all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; James Tolan and Cindy Cross of Caldwell, daughter and son-in-law; Leah and Ronnie Smith of Caldwell, grandchildren; Jennifer and Scott Reames, Jerry and April Smith, Kelsey and Damian Ferguson, J.T. and Luz TenEyck, Kelley and Caleb Crane, Christopher TenEyck, Candace Cross, Daniel and Leah Cross, great grandchildren; Gabrielle and Savannah Reames, Addison Crane, Ava Smith and Rylan Cross. Reube is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Bud Cross, one daughter; Jan Elizabeth Cross, one sister; Jennie Lightsey and one brother; Joe Marion Teague. The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church School.
