A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Rhonda Kay Van Wechel will be held on Saturday, July 11^th and 1:00 P.M. at Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel, Detroit Lakes, MN. Inurnment will be held at Knollwood Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN.

Rhonda Kay Van Wechel, 51, Detroit Lakes, MN and formerly of Wolverton, MN died on Friday January 9, 2009 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN. She was born on March 15, 1957 at Breckenridge, MN to Lorentz and Elvera (Affield) Van Wechel. The youngest of five children, Rhonda resided with her family until she was twenty-one. She attended available special education classes in the Breckenridge, MN and Barnesville, MN Public School Systems. Rhonda’s last two years of education were at the Central Education Center, Audubon, MN. She moved to the Smith Group Home, Frazee, MN in 1978 and began attending the Becker County DAC at that time. Rhonda lived at the Group Home until November, 2008 when she became a resident of the Emmanuel Nursing Home.

Rhonda is survived by her brothers; Dennis (Phyllis) Van Wechel, Wolverton, MN and Neil (Mary) Van Wechel, Phoenix, AZ and her sisters; LaVonne (John) Fischer, Park Rapids, MN and Myrna Vlaminck, Minneota, MN, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
