Ricardo Gonzales, age 61, serving his Lord and his country in loving pride, passed on July 6, 2011. Born August 23,1949 in Demming, New Mexico, he is survived by his wife Shirley of 23 years, step-children: Steve, Randy and Debi, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. His dedication to helping others and sense of humor were evident to all…He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills Funeral Home, located at 10200 Hwy. 5 North, in Alexander, Arkansas on Sunday July 10, 2011, from 6:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M.
Funeral Services will be at the funeral home chapel on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 10:00 A.M.

My Name is Sara I am Ricardo's oldest "daughter" he abandoned me when I was a baby and I was raised by his sister. I am very sorry for your loss, it shows that you were both very happy together and had a wonderful life. I had a wonderful life and parents and my father passed away recently so I know the pain of loosing a parent so I know what his children are going through! Again my condolences on you loss

Ricardo was my uncle but I will always remember him by the name pee-wee which my mother called him. I remember him and the fond memories of working with him at a small gas station he managed in Colorado. I remember going to eat Mexican hamburgers at a small shop which he loved and how good they were. To this day I still have those memories and what a kind-hearted person he was and how he always seemed to enjoy life and make the best of a bad situation. My condolences and heart go out to his family and may god hold him close and keep him safe.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I heard about my uncle's passing today. I thought of my "Tio PeeWee" the other day. I was listening to the Radio and heard an old song called "Oh, Sweet Pea" it was one of his favorite songs back then; I assume it was his favorite because he sang it constantly.

I remember him driving my mom and all my siblings to Deming NM from Denver Co, I think I was about 10 - 12 years old. He made the trip fun - considering there were 9 childen in the car.

I am happy he found a wonderful family to call his own. From the beautiful video I just watched, it looks like he has a rich and full life. Again, please accept my condolences.

I don't know him he walked out of my life when I was 6 months old I feel for any family he has.

I remember when I was younger my uncle use to run a chuck wagon. I would see him come around the corner and stop in front of our house with his fully loaded truck. He would always open up both sides of the Chuck wagon and tell my sisters and I to get anything and everything we wanted for free! He would stand there with a big smile as we went crazy with excitement. My mom wouldn't let us get "everything" though.

We would go Deer hunting and I would remember him piling the firewood in our arms over our heads and then point us back in the direction of the camp. My older sister was spoiled so she didn't have to carry wood back.

There are so many moments We spent together, I wish he had stayed in contact with us in New Mexico.

I enjoyed visiting w/ "Cardo" at his great grandson John johns bday parties. He loved that little boy so much. We will all miss him. My prayers are with Miss Shirley and her family.

I met Ricardo when we were building the Pulaski Southwest Dept. of Human Services' facility in 1996-1997. He was working for Little Rock at the Southwest City Center. He took care of the building for us from 1997 until this year. I enjoyed the occasional lunches we shared over the years, his humor and the experiences he had as a courier hauling millions of dollars around the area were hilarious. He loved his family, his church and his country. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shirley and his family.
