Richard A. Scott, age 81, of Bethany, passed away on September 7, 2011. Richard was the husband of the late Janet Duncan Scott. Born in New Haven on December 19, 1929, he was a son of the late James Carter Scott & Bertha Francis Scott. Richard is survived by his daughter, Linda Scott of Waterbury, his son Colt Scott and his wife Patricia of Bethany and grandchildren, Kellie Martinjuk, Amy Apuzzo, Amanda Scott & Holly Scott. He was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Morris & a brother Robert Scott. A self employed mason all of his life, he was the co-founder and partner of Mesa Construction Company and of C & S Ranches. He owned and trained thoroughbred horses. He was an original member of CT Calf Ropers Association and a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. Richard was a Veteran of the US National Guard that was activated during the Korea Conflict and served in Germany. Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at 10:00 am in BEECHER & BENNETT - TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave, West Haven, and may visit with his family at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will follow his service on Saturday in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Contributions in Richard's memory may be made to the Bethany Volunteer Firemen's Assoc. Corp. Ambulance, 460 Amity Road, Bethany, CT 06524.
