A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Cherry Grove Cemetery in Cherry Grove for Richard "Dick" Chauran of Springfield, who died May 19 of heart attack. He was 84. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. June 1 at the Berean Baptist Church in Eugene. He was born Jan. 29, 1928, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Camille and Mae Mecham Chauran. He married Julia "Pauline" Pearson on Aug. 7, 1953, in Cherry Grove. He attended Lane Community College. He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Giustina Brothers sawmill from 1952 to 1963 and worked for Weyerhaeuser in Springfield. He worked as a custodian for the Springfield School District for 27 years, the last few as head custodian. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jon of Aloha; two daughters, Juli Chauran of Portland and Carole Chauran of Kent, Wash.; a sister, Helen Crown of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Deborah Stage, died previously. Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.
