Webb III, Richard "Dick" (COL Ret), Passed away peacefully on December 1, 2011. Dick was born in East St Louis, IL on July2, 1931 to Vivian and Richard Webb Jr. He moved with his family to Rock Island, IL where he attended Western Military Academy in Alton, IL. He was drafted into the Army in June of 1952 and met his future wife Emma Louise Damron at a military dance in Louisville, KY. He attended Officer Candidate School in June of 1953 at Fort Benning, GA and shortly after he graduated, he and Louise were married. His Army assignments included the 48th Medical Battalion in Mainz, Germany, an Administrator of Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, CO and U.S. Army Medical Field Service School in San Antonio, Texas. He completed his Administrative Residency at Fort Bragg North Carolina in 1962 and in 1963 he obtained his Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from Baylor University. That same year he was assigned to the 8th Field Hospital in Na Trang, Vietnam. Upon his return stateside, he was stationed in San Antonio for the second time working at Brooke Army Medical Center until 1968. In 1969 He moved his family to Bowie, Maryland where he was assigned to the U.S. Army Surgeon General's Office in Washington, D.C. In 1971 he returned to Vietnam for a year and a half and returned stateside to Edgewood Arsenal Maryland. In 1974 he moved to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he worked as the Assistant Administrator at General Leonard Wood Army Hospital. He retired from the Army in 1979 after 28 years of service and moved to Albuquerque, N.M. to start work as an Administrator to Lovelace Bataan Memorial Hospital. He also became an avid Lobo fan. Dick, along with his best friend Neil Larsen, would sell tickets for the University of New Mexico football program for many years while attending home and away football games. Dick loved the Lobos and he loved going to the Men's & Women's basketball games at the "Pit" with his wife Louise. When Dick retired from Lovelace in 1988 he spent his spare time on the golf course, eventually winning the New Mexico's Senior Golf Championship. He also enjoyed torturing his grandchildren at the FRA 200 swimming pool. "Don't push your sister's head under the water!" was often heard. Dick & Louise were always grateful for the friends they made at the Kirtland Air Force Base Officers Club, the Fleet Reserve Association 200 and the American Legion Post 49. He is survived by his wife Louise; his sister Carol Sue Bayert; four children: Richard Webb IV, Cathleen Ward, Leslie Peonio and husband Gus, and Robert Webb and wife Ruby.
