Susan, it was with great sadness when I read of Dick's passing. He was my teacher and track coach at Three Rivers and River View HS in Coshocton. Our track teams where not very big so we always traveled in cars to various meets so we were a close team. Some great memories of those times and I would often come home when when I was in college and we would still pole vault together.

Susan, it was with great sadness when I read of Dick's passing. He was my teacher and track coach at Three Rivers and River View HS in Coshocton. Our track teams where not very big so we always traveled in cars to various meets so we were a close team. Some great memories of those times and I would often come home when when I was in college and we would still pole vault together.
I think the last time I saw him was at a Canal Days in Coshocton close to forty years ago and he had moved at that time to VB.
I decided to google him and that is how I found out he had died, as I've been thinking of those great times.
He wasn't only my coach and teacher but also my mentor and friend.

One of my favorite memories from that year was when Mr. Petran was trying to open something, can't remember what, but he asked us students if anybody had a pocket knife on them - so I produce an electrician's pocket knife with about a 3' blade... After he used it and handed it back to me, he said, "I'm not so sure it's a good idea to bring that knife back to school".. Funny guy and a great teacher...

Dear Susan and family. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Dick passing. I spoke with him last year at Mick's funeral and he seemed well at that time. I remember visiting Aunt Geneva and "Dickie" as we called him back then. I will remember him fondly and keep him in my prayers. Cousin Shirley

Dear Susan, Chuck and Family, I was shocked and saddened to hear that Dick had passed away. Aunt Geneva and Dick would come to Beallsville every Sunday to visit Aunt Madelyn and Grandma Headley. I always teased Dick about being one day older than him. Later...he teased me about being the youngest. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I am so sorry for your loss.
