Richard E. Brader, 74, of Raquette Lake, and formerly of Middletown, NY, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2012. He was born December 20, 1937, in Middletown, a son of the late Fred Brader and the late Myra (Martin) and Charles Baldwin. A United States Marine Corps veteran, Mr. Brader proudly served from 1957-1960 on active duty and in the reserves from 1960 until his Honorable Discharge in 1963, with the rank of Corporal. On April 24, 1960 he married Audrey Katherine Reichert at the Holy Name of Mary Church in Montgomery, NY. Mrs. Brader died July 4, 2003. He was the owner of Dick Brader Plumbing & Heating, and Dick's Luncheonette, both in Montgomery, NY. Dick was currently employed by NY State DEC as a Caretaker at Tioga Point, in Raquette Lake, a job which he truly loved with his whole heart and soul. Mr. Brader was a former member of the Raquette Lake School Board, and Town Councilman. He was also a member of the Raquette Lake Fire Department. He enjoyed spending his winters in Venice, Florida. He is survived by two daughters, Karen Score and husband Kip of Saratoga Springs, NY, and Nancy Youngberg and husband Robert of Forestport, NY; four grandchildren, David, Ryan, Kira and Rob; two sisters, Beverly Butan of NC, and Dawn "Susie" Della Gatta of Middletown; several nieces and nephews; and his companion Claudia Parker. He was predeceased by a brother Carl Dahllquist. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Raquette Lake Fire Dept. and Ambulance crew for their care and efforts. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 3:00 p.m. at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 128 Fern Ave., Old Forge, NY. Calling hours are Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral. Following the funeral, relatives and friends are invited to join the family at the Raquette Lake Fire Department for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Raquette Lake Fire Department and Ambulance. A memorial service and burial will take place in Middletown at a later date.
