RICHARD E. MADDEN
HICKORY – Richard Eugene Madden, 80, of Hickory passed away on June 26, 2012 at Brian Center Hickory.
Born January 24, 1932 in Chillicothe, Ohio, he was a son of the late Ralph Albert and Cecelia Myers Madden. Richard graduated from Union Scioto High School. In 1950 he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany for two years. He was discharged in January 1954 and was on inactive service for eight years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded death by two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Phillips Madden; daughters, Rhonda Madden MacNaughton and Diana Lynn Madden; grandchildren, Zane, Rachel, and Chloe MacNaughton, Desiree and Laci Hollifield; ten brothers and sisters; many nephews, nieces and cousins and special friends, Charles Ritchart and Joe Karam.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Catawba Funerals & Cremations at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10 – 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Salvation Army or St. Judes Children's Research.
