Overla, Richard Jay, age 76 of Batavia, Ohio , formerly of West Milton passed away at his residence. He was born December 3, 1936 in York,TWP. He was preceded in death by his parents William W. and Mary Irene (Barnes) Overla, wife Eunice Rose (Smith) Overla, brothers Max, Robert and Jack Overla and sister Marjorie Albaugh. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Artie and Cathy Overla-Amelia,OH., Gary and Susan Overla-Dallas Center,IA., daughters and sons-in-law Kelli and Johnny Maggard-Cincinnati,OH., Stephanie and Michael Luebker-Rogers,AK., 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, sisters Dorothea Shellenberg-Piqua, Helen Keating-Laura, Martha Weaver-Laura. Richard proudly served his country in the US Air Force, was a 1955 graduate of Milton-Union , 1959 graduate of Baldwin Wallace University and retired from the Army Corps. Of Engineers and inducted into the Milton-Union Hall of Fame in 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton with Rev. Jerry Collins officiating, burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. Friends may call on Thursday two hours prior to the service (12:00-2:00 ) P.M. at Hale-Sarver. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Milton-Union Alumni Association Athletic Dept.
