Rich lost his courageous, ten-month battle against esophageal and stomach cancer and passed away at his home, with family by his side. Preceded in death by parents Leo and Genevieve, infant son Leo, and wife of 52 years Carol. Survived by brothers Jon (Becky) Bischof of Omaha, and Greg Bischof of Cheyenne, and sister Susan Elsberry (Terry) of Tucson; children Steve (Sue) Bischof, Barb (Dean) Hart, Bob (Julie) Bischof, Tom (Angela) Bischof, Debi (Pat) Jaeke, Mike (Wendy) Bischof, and Linda (Gary) Carpenter; many nieces and nephews, friends, and special friend Rose Feldman. Rich adored his grandchildren and was a loving and proud Papa to Maryssa (Rob), Taylor (Lacy), Kevin, Justin, Ethan, Maradeth, Tommy (Becky), Amber, Lauren, Ian, Keaton, Ava, Max, Emma, Payne, Ellie, Noah, Riley, Caden, Ryder, Tyke, Crew, Rio, Matt, Jeff, Sophie, and Ben. Rich was a graduate of UNL, a US Army veteran, and retired VP from Andersen Construction. He loved to travel, ski, ride motorcycles, play golf, listen to live music and wear funny hats. An avid "recycler", he reveled in finding treasure in the castoffs of others. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family. Rich enjoyed summer fun at the family cabin in Cedar Creek, and hosting all holidays and birthday parties at his house, making sure excellent times were had by all. He loved following Husker football and basketball, and made many a road trip with his St. James melodrama friends. Whether it was his breakfast club, the ladies in his water aerobics class, or the nurses at Estabrook, Rich always took an interest in the lives of others. His character really showed in how he cared for his wife before she lost her own battle with cancer 4 years ago. His kindness and generosity were unmatched, and his humility and unassuming personality will forever be missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials to "Richard Bischof Memorial" to be divided among Estabrook Cancer Center, St. James Church and FOCUS.
