SHOGRY- Richard L. Shogry, 64, of Charleston entered eternal peace on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at a local hospital. He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., to the late Louis Michael and Bessema Rabay Shogry. Mr. Shogry was the owner and operator of Shogry's Gold Showcase where he was often called "The Mayor of North Market Street", he was a witty friend and father who excelled in cooking and business. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and an active volunteer with the Nativity Crisis Ministries. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Louis M. Shogry, Jr., and Albert L. Shogry, also two sisters, Catherine Caron, and Louise George. Surviving Mr. Shogry is his former wife and best friend, Nancy C. Shogry of Charleston, three daughters, Deborah Shogry DiNovo and her husband Augustine, Lisa Shogry- Savage and her husband David, and Michelle Shogry- Dorman and her husband Matthew all of Charleston, three brothers, Edward L. Shogry of Charleston, Fredrick L. Shogry of Pittsfield, Mass., and Theodore L. Shogry of Pittsfield, Mass, two sisters, Mildred Billings, and Helen George. Also surviving "Jidu" are six grandchildren, Stratton Damewood, Chelsea Damewood, Dominic DiNovo, Rachael Savage, Victoria Savage, and Hana Dorman all of Charleston and many nieces and nephews survive him. The family will receive friends 6-8PM Thursday, January 23rd at McALISTER-SMITH DOWNTOWN CHAPEL with a Vigil Prayer service beginning at 6:30PM. A Liturgy Of Christian Burial will be 10AM Friday, January 24th at Nativity Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
