Richard Lee Roberts age 75, of Wadsworth, OH passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Wadsworth Pointe. He was born in Lodi, OH on June 5, 1935 to Lee Howard and Edith Virginia Umpstead Roberts and had resided in Wadsworth the past 29 years. He was a 1953 graduate of Lodi High School. After graduation he played minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, then was drafted into the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict. Following the military, he attended Baldwin Wallace College and later transferred to Ohio University. He was a retired rural postal carrier in Lodi for 30 years and had also worked at Sharon Country Club, Westfield Companies Security and as a bus driver for Cloverleaf Schools. He was a member of the Lodi American Legion and Harrisville Lodge #137 F & AM and enjoyed coaching little league baseball in Lodi. Surviving are: Wife – Evelyn to whom he married October 18, 1982 4 Children – Michael (Tammy) Roberts of Tempe, AZ Dee Kline of West Salem, OH Rodney (Marisol) Roberts of Tempe, AZ Rick (Sondra) Roberts of Lodi, OH 2 Step-children – Brad (Cindy) King of Jacksonville, FL Susan (Gary) Dimit of Seville, OH 13 Grandchildren 1 Great-grandson 2 Sisters – Dee (Gene) Moore of St. Petersburg, FL Debbie (Bill) Miller of West Salem, OH He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Parker & Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, OH. Les Long of Lodi will officiate. Burial will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lodi Little League Baseball.
