Richard Samuel Moyer passed away at 95 on February 14, 2012, after living a long and full life of dedicated work, fulfilled responsibility, and devoted care for his family. He was born in Valley View, Pennsylvania on January 23, 1917 to Harrison and Florence Moyer. He studied engineering at the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades in Media, Pa, graduating in 1937, and then moved to Chicago to work for the Link-Belt Company. He married Kathryn Eileen Murray in 1942. In the 1950s, they had two children, Susan Kathryn and Richard Harrison. The family lived in Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Barrington Ill., and Fort Wayne, following his career at Link-Belt as he worked his way up from machine shop to managing manufacturing plants, and leading the company's operations in the executive office until his retirement in 1973. He then worked for Tuthill Pump Company on the board of directors, and as the manager of their manufacturing plant in New Haven, Indiana. He was a meticulous woodworker and untiring gardener, and enjoyed golf and bridge with friends. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, daughter Susan and son-in-law Edward McGuire, son Richard and daughter-in-law Paula Moyer, and by four grandchildren, Carla Moyer, Kevin McGuire, Richard Moyer, and Sean McGuire. He is missed for his sound judgment, unerring sense of responsibility, and deep respect for duty to family and friends. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 27th at 2 pm at the Towne House Retirement Home, 2209 St. Joe Center Rd, Fort Wayne, Ind. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements with D.O. McComb and Sons. To sign the online guest book, go to www.mccombandsons.com.
