Richard Wayne Mudge, 84, of Hot Springs passed away Saturday January 28, 2012 at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital. He was born June 1, 1927 in Des Moines, IA to Fred and Mary Flansburg Mudge. He served in The Navy for four years as a medic during WWII. He was a member of the VFW, Coast Guard Auxiliary safety boating instructor, a nurse at the V.A. Hospital and a boxer in his earlier years.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Kathleen Mudge, children; Diane (Larry) Leigh of Urbandale, IA, Dennis (Elaine) Mudge of Norwalk, IA, Karla (Tony) Wyse, Cynthia Mull all of Hot Springs and Kevin (Vivian) Mudge of Little Rock, AR. Grandchildren include Clayton Mudge, Kaitlyn Mull, Cassandra Ackerson, Madeline Mudge, Marcus Leigh, David Leigh and great-grandchildren Autumn and Phoenix Ackerson.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday February 2, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be 12 p.m. Friday February 3, 2012 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, AR.
Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the Hot Springs VFW Post 2278 - 2231 E. Grand Ave Hot Springs, AR 71901.
