Of Centreville/Fairfax, Virginia passed away on August 21, 2010.
She was the daughter of the late Eldon and Eula Ehinger and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 20 years, Colonel William V. Koch.
She is survived by her son William S. Koch of Sterling Park, Virginia; her only sister Una L. White of Alexandria, Virginia; one nephew Michael Makarczyk of Salt Lake City, Utah; three nieces Lori L. Roy (Totan) of Sterling, Virginia, Cynthia Thomas (Stanley) of Alexandria, Virginia and Susan Manley (Steven) of Richmond, Virginia. She was a GREAT aunt to Matthew, Daniel, Tami, and Luke Roy; Stanley IV and Kaye Lee Thomas; and Thomas and Joseph Manley.
Rita attended Fairfax County Elementary schools and graduated from Fairfax High School. After working as a secretary at the Pentagon for several years in the 1960s, she received her Nursing degree from Northern Virginia Community College. She then nursed at Fairfax Hospital in the 1970s and 1980s while raising their son William Scott Koch.
She was the co-founder and President for many years of the Historic Centreville Society, was a life-long member of Centreville United Methodist Church, and was honored as Centreville District "Fairfax County Citizen of the Year" in 2009.
