Rita M. Mathieu, 88, of South Grafton passed away on Monday, January 9, at Beaumont Nursing Home in Northbridge surrounded by the family she cherished so much. Born in Grafton, she was the daughter of David A. and Yvonne M. (Richard) Desmarais and was a lifelong resident of Grafton and a member of Saint James Parish and its Women's Guild, the Daughters of Isabella. Her husband of 36 years, Jacques E. Mathieu Jr., died in 1979. She leaves four sons; Gary and his wife Mary of Sutton, Glenn and his wife Lisa of Centerville, Guy and his wife Patricia of Fort Myers Florida and Gregg and his wife Deborah of Centerville. She also leaves six grandchildren; Garrett, Andrew, Jake, Samantha, Mikayla and Lilly, and one great-grandchild, Haylie. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester Street North Grafton MA 01536. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint James Church, 89 Main Street, South Grafton MA 01560. Her family would like to thank the staff at Beaumont Nursing & Rehabilitation in Northbridge for the care, kindness and compassion they showed as they cared for Rita. FUNERAL MASS & BURIAL A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint James Church on Friday, January 13th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Mausoleum at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
