I met Rita when my brother Alex, the husband of Corrito, Rita's youngest sister, met me and my family in Los Angeles several years ago. Alex joined my family in a holiday in LA, Las Vegas and San Diego. It was Rita who fetched Alex from the LAX Airport and she brought her to the motel near the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When we came back from Las Vegas and San Diego, Alex, together with my wife and son Mikey

I met Rita when my brother Alex, the husband of Corrito, Rita's youngest sister, met me and my family in Los Angeles several years ago. Alex joined my family in a holiday in LA, Las Vegas and San Diego. It was Rita who fetched Alex from the LAX Airport and she brought her to the motel near the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When we came back from Las Vegas and San Diego, Alex, together with my wife and son Mikey went to Rita's house in LA. She was very friendly. She introduced to us her housemate, Consie. They were both very friendly and I remember Rita having a very animated conversation with my son Mikey, who was then in his early teens.
She liked Mikey that we joked Mike that Rita wanted to adopt him.

My brother and her sister, Corrito, have nothing but very good memories about Rita.

May her soul rest in peace.

Rita and I never met nor talked to each other but I knew her through my brother Alex and his wife Corrito. They always have glowing reports about Rita's generosity and kindness and thoughtfulness. She was a personification of a mother to them and therefore will be terribly missed. The Conrads and the Leopandos express our condolences to the Teves family in this difficult time.

We have many happy memories with her and the family, including their parents when I was young. It was always filled with laughter and one thing I distinctly remember, she was brave to teach me to play the piano. I was very young then. What a big loss, a precious lady, an intellect and a genuine heart. No doubt in the arms of the Lord now. Thank you Ninang Tita for being part of our lives, your examples live forever in our hearts.

Rita was a beloved sister-in-law, the eldest sister of my wife, Corrito. I am privileged to have known her, a very learned and brilliant woman at the same time, a very humble and generous one. Living on opposite coasts, I really had the chance to spend some quality time with her when she vacationed in New York in the nineties. From New York City to the Hamptons/Montauk, from White Plains to Cold Spring, it was a pleasure to have been in her company during that time. She especially enjoyed her visit to Sunnyside, Washington Irving's home in Irvington, NY and to her special mentor's (Dr. E. Quito) niece's home in Rockland County.

Unfortunately, there will be no more trips or visits to share.
But as Rita always said, it is all in the mind and for as long as we have ours, these memories are forever ours to keep.

Dearest Tita and Ninang,

Though your departure was unfair for us and untimely, I will forever cherish the time you've spent with us, the Twano Family. Your name has been embedded in my mind ever since I was a little kid, by Lolo Angel and Papa. I made a promise to myself to come and visit you once I get a chance to come here in the United States. And I did just that...Although those moments were fulfilled with my luck

I have not met Tita Rita in decades, but I always remember her as my Mom's intellectual cousin. I particularly remember that she taught literature at a prestigious university, and while I was a child, she wrote my Mom long, mellifluous letters and cards during special occasions, in her beautiful handwriting (this was before the age of email). I knew she loved literature and how I wish I could have known her more and that my daughter knew her too,

I'm sure Heaven's "brain power" and literary prowess has increased with Tita Rita being there. Rest in peace, Tita Rita.

I remember too how you would drop by Papa's book store after your classes are over at Mapua to have a chat with Mama. Then you would walk a few blocks to visit Tia Chuling. What I cannot forget is the fun we had when you brought Kits and I to Universal Studios, you were like a young girl laughing when we rode the bike of ET! And you wondered how I was able to spot the ELVIS star along Hollywood Blvd. while you were driving us, you said I had a very sharp pair of eyes! We did enjoy our time together. I will always remember our fun time! Go to rest now, Tita, you are now with our Lord and you chose Christmas Day to be with Him.
