Vernon- Robert Aldrich, "Bomber" Brown, 81, formerly of Vermont Route 30 in Jamaica, died early Friday morning, October 7, 2011 at Vernon Green Nursing Home. Mr. Brown was born in Rochester, Vermont on August 27, 1930, the son of Max and Mina (Warner) Brown. He was raised and educated in Rochester where he attended public schools. For several years he resided in Wilmington prior to moving to Jamaica in 1965. He had worked as a sales representative for Interstate Bingo Supply, a company he established, and previously worked as a self-employed logger. He had also been employed at Cersosimo Lumber Company and during his younger years worked in the grain store in Rochester. Active fraternally, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jamaica as well as the Cairo Shrine Temple of Rutland. He also held membership in the Eagles and B.P.O. Elks, Brattleboro Lodge #1499. An ardent outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and raising livestock. On September 3, 1965 in Townshend he was married to Carol A. Jacques who survives. The couple recently celebrated 46 years of marriage together. Besides his wife who is a resident at Vernon Green, he leaves, one daughter, Sally Hescock and husband Richard of Wardsboro, two sons, Carl Brown and wife Rhonda of Jamaica and David Brown and wife Alison of Wardsboro, two sisters, Mary Ward of Indiana and Doris Benware of Hanover, N.H., one brother Homer Brown of Rochester, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Additionally he is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Slyia and three brothers, Max Jr, Raymond and Rodney. Graveside committal services with Masonic Rites will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in Oakwood Cemetery in Townshend. A memorial service will follow the graveside services to be held at the Wardsboro Methodist Church starting at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Peter Carlson, officiating. Memorial contributions in Mr. Brown's name may be made to, Grace Cottage Hospital, Route 35, Townshend, VT. 05353, C/O Dr. Robert Backus.
